House of blues reflection
House of blues reflection
I am not know much about blues before I went to the house of blues. I just know blues is a kind of music, I even can’t recognize blues and rock&roll.
When I went to the house of blues, I saw some photos on wall which all are black. The guide told us blues was stated by black, and rock&roll is base on blues development. I got my aha moment. Then we listen the band show, the guide told us about blues history at the same time. Blues is from Africa to America, it came to America Slavery in 1600s, which is tradition music from Africa. More and more people played blues and became popular. That’s why I saw so many black on the wall.
Blues have quickly Rhythm, we follow the beats and use our body, the player use their mouth and step makes the beats, listener can make sound with them, like yi-ha! That make us excited.
It is so sad that I had class later and I had to leave early.

Film Genre
Chick-flick is a slang term for a film genre mainly dealing with love and romance and designed to appeal to a largely female target audience.[1][2] Although many types of films may be directed toward the female gender, "chick-flick" is typically used only in reference to films that are heavy with emotion or contain themes that are relationship-based (although not necessarily romantic as many other themes may be present). Chick-flicks often are released en masse around Valentine's Day.
Generally, a chick-flick is a film designed to have an innate appeal to women, typically young women.[4] Defining a film a chick-flick is, as the New York Times has stated, more of a parlor game than a science.[5] These films are generally held in popular culture as having formulaic, paint-by-numbers plot lines and characters. This makes usage of the term "problematic" for implying "frivolity, artlessness, and utter commercialism", according to ReelzChannel.[3] However, several chick-flicks have received high critical acclaim for their stories and performances. For example, the 1983 film Terms of Endearment received Academy Awards for Best Screenplay, Best Picture, Best Director, Best Actress, and Best Actor in a Supporting Role.[6]
Some frequent elements of chick-flicks include having a female protagonist,[3] thematic use of the color pink (along with metaphorical allusions of the color),[4] and romance and/or dating based storylines.[7] Longtime producer Jerry Bruckheimer has remarked about the plots as "How do you cope with money and love?"[5]
Female MSN.com commentator Kim Morgan has written,
[C]inema just wouldn't be the same without movies for and about women. And we don't just mean movies about pretty women, but all women and their issues – something many guys don't usually have the patience for in real life. That's what sisters are for, right? Right... sisters or movies.[8]
Alternatively, the website My Pick Flick is a crowd-sourced mechanism for determining if a film is a chick-flick or not, where visitors can vote for popular film titles to be either a 'man movie' or a 'chick-flick'.

We learned about movie. First thing we learn is the genres, it means the kinds of movie, there are many genres, I know the genre such as action, horror, comedy. But in my worksheet, my genre is Chick flicks, I never hear it before. Then I do some research. Chick flicks is a kinds of movie for female, which talk about love, romantic, and their relationship. I know about it such as . That is my aha moment. The Second thing we learn about the terms, which make me know many movie terms words in English. However, there are some of them I never hear, we discuss about those terms, we learn from the people who know those terms, and the discussing makes me want to take a movie! The most make me interested is Tyler Perry’s money machine. I never hear about him. But his movie makes lots of money, like the Hollywood’s movie did. After I read the test, I wonder his movie is from a good marketing, the black people, his movie show the black people what real life, real feeling they have. That’s why his movie makes lots of money.
Bumper Sticker: we make the movie, movie makes us.
