Cooking base on human use fire. This is advance of civilization. When human know how to use fire, we were different to animal. Many anthropologist said that cooking as a symbolic way to distinguishing human and animals. Cooking food makes human from nature to culture. The food cooked is easy for human to get it’s energy, so human get evolution faster than other animal. That’s why cooking become a culture. In those cooking culture, people will talk about how to cook meal.
When our grilling (like BBQ), we sit around on the fire, talk about life and cook. This is a higher culture that other animal never do. Many food such as French fry is hard to make at home, so more and more people love that food, and they go to restaurant. The anthropologist find out that when you not going to cook, you will eat more. So the problem is people go out for eating, and become fatter and fatter. People begin to care about their health problem, they want to eat more health, this what out Cooking culture looks like.

House of blues reflection
House of blues reflection
I am not know much about blues before I went to the house of blues. I just know blues is a kind of music, I even can’t recognize blues and rock&roll.
When I went to the house of blues, I saw some photos on wall which all are black. The guide told us blues was stated by black, and rock&roll is base on blues development. I got my aha moment. Then we listen the band show, the guide told us about blues history at the same time. Blues is from Africa to America, it came to America Slavery in 1600s, which is tradition music from Africa. More and more people played blues and became popular. That’s why I saw so many black on the wall.
Blues have quickly Rhythm, we follow the beats and use our body, the player use their mouth and step makes the beats, listener can make sound with them, like yi-ha! That make us excited.
It is so sad that I had class later and I had to leave early.

Film Genre
Chick-flick is a slang term for a film genre mainly dealing with love and romance and designed to appeal to a largely female target audience.[1][2] Although many types of films may be directed toward the female gender, "chick-flick" is typically used only in reference to films that are heavy with emotion or contain themes that are relationship-based (although not necessarily romantic as many other themes may be present). Chick-flicks often are released en masse around Valentine's Day.
Generally, a chick-flick is a film designed to have an innate appeal to women, typically young women.[4] Defining a film a chick-flick is, as the New York Times has stated, more of a parlor game than a science.[5] These films are generally held in popular culture as having formulaic, paint-by-numbers plot lines and characters. This makes usage of the term "problematic" for implying "frivolity, artlessness, and utter commercialism", according to ReelzChannel.[3] However, several chick-flicks have received high critical acclaim for their stories and performances. For example, the 1983 film Terms of Endearment received Academy Awards for Best Screenplay, Best Picture, Best Director, Best Actress, and Best Actor in a Supporting Role.[6]
Some frequent elements of chick-flicks include having a female protagonist,[3] thematic use of the color pink (along with metaphorical allusions of the color),[4] and romance and/or dating based storylines.[7] Longtime producer Jerry Bruckheimer has remarked about the plots as "How do you cope with money and love?"[5]
Female MSN.com commentator Kim Morgan has written,
[C]inema just wouldn't be the same without movies for and about women. And we don't just mean movies about pretty women, but all women and their issues – something many guys don't usually have the patience for in real life. That's what sisters are for, right? Right... sisters or movies.[8]
Alternatively, the website My Pick Flick is a crowd-sourced mechanism for determining if a film is a chick-flick or not, where visitors can vote for popular film titles to be either a 'man movie' or a 'chick-flick'.

However, there are some of them I never hear, we discuss about those terms, we learn from the people who know those terms, and the discussing makes me want to take a movie! The most make me interested is Tyler Perry’s money machine. I never hear about him. But his movie makes lots of money, like the Hollywood’s movie did. After I read the test, I wonder his movie is from a good marketing, the black people, his movie show the black people what real life, real feeling they have. That’s why his movie makes lots of money.

The women's movement ushered in a slew of programming featuring strong, independent females as central characters. Most notable was The Mary Tyler Moore Show, which spawned the successful spin-offs Rhoda and Phyllis, and also resulted in Mary Tyler Moore becoming the first female to head a television production company of her own, MTM Enterprises, which churned out groundbreaking programming in the late 1970s throughout the 1990s. Women were also established portraying strong characters in programs like Police Woman, Wonder Woman, The Bionic Woman, and others.

Chuck Taylor All Stars, or Converse All Stars, also referred to as "Converses", "Chuck Taylors", and "All Star", is the brand name for a pair of athletic shoes produced by Nike, Inc. through its Converse division. Nike has owned the rights to the brand since acquiring its former competitor out of bankruptcy in 2003.
The design of the Chuck Taylor All-Star has remained largely unchanged since its introduction. The shoes consist of a stitched upper portion, a toe cap usually made of white rubber, and a sole that is usually made of brown rubber. Although Chuck Taylors are made of various materials such as leather, the original and most widely known version of the shoe is made from cotton canvas.
They were first produced in 1917 as the "All Star", Converse's attempt to capture the basketball shoe market.[1] Chuck Taylor, a basketball player and shoe salesman for Converse, improved the shoe's design and became the product's spokesperson in the 1920s

What I learned.Culture shock is the first topic we talk about, which makes me interested. I heard Culture shock, but never feel it until I come to U.S. Some people will hug you or shake your hand hardly, it would not happen in China when someone see you. Second topic is about iceberg, I thought it is just a view. The radio told us that culture iceberg have three parts, the formal, technical, and informal. I still don’t understand, when the radio give the example, I got the aha moment. How I learned. We discuss with each other, we talked about our weekend, everyone tried to adapt the life style in U.S. The culture in U.S is mix culture, so classmate are keeping their our culture. Talking to them, I learn Korea culture such as they love hot food, Togo people love scorer. We compare our culture, ask about the culture we don’t know. For example, when I am doing my CIP, someone asked me whether everyone learned Kongfu in China. So we learn by talking.
Learn about how to define American, when I am on the road, I will look at everyone I meet.Looking his/her gender and physical appearance, and think about his/her culture. Find out what is impolite and remind myself not to do that. I could make more and more friends by this way. This skill is also can work in talking. I can find many detail in someone dressing and appearance and know what he/she likes, then I can use it as a topic.
